Weeks 31 and 32

Well, we're getting there.
Progress is slow, but it's progress.  Last week the rock guys started on the garage.

It's taken 6 days to get this far.  Brian says they're slow, but the rock is turning out beautiful, so I'll take it. :)

The front door has been put in and stained.
Hello beautiful.

So while all the rock is happening outside, staining has been going on inside.
All of the woodwork is being worked on and it is absolutely gorgeous.  For an example, this is the garage door - I had to use my flash to really show it, but the overall look is a lot darker in person.

The living room is full of shelves and drawers that have been stained and are in the process of being sanded for the final coat of laquer.

My pantry work center.  It's a little dusty, but you get the idea. :)

The beverage center... sink on the left, ice maker right next to it, a bank of drawers and a mini fridge on the right.

My dining room hutch.

There's still a few days of stuff to do with the stained wood and then we'll get to the paint.  Stay tuned (if anybody is even around still at this point). :)

Week 30

The living room windows were framed out...

and the french door was put in on the balcony and stained.

I love the knotty alder and color of stain... beautiful.

We also got one of the back doors put in...

They also started installing cabinet doors.  This is the boys bathroom...

and the laundry room...

The trim guy also got started on the treatment up the stairs. I'm not a fan of plain textured wall stairwells. So we are doing a wainscoting type thing (some people call it board and batten) and it will mimic the design of the mud bench at the bottom of the stairs.

Starting stain and paint next week!  Yay!

Weeks 28 & 29

Week 28 was fairly dead.  The cabinet guy that is doing the main areas of the house (living room, dining room, kitchen and pantry) came and installed the vent hood cover and the cabinets that are on either side of the stove.  He is awesome - he really takes pride in his work and is VERY meticulous.  The only reason we didn't have him do all the cabinets in the house is because he would've put us behind on our timeline because he is so picky.  The pickiness is not necessarily a bad thing, but we have a LOT of cabinets. :)

Last week had a little more activity... the trim guy came and worked on some things for a few days.  The ceiling is finished in the kitchen/dining room.

He put the crown molding up around the top of the cabinet boxes...

And has been working on trimming out the master closets and doing all the baseboards.  We have a big, thick baseboard which I LOVE.

We have hit some snags with the other cabinet guy (he's doing all the bathrooms, laundry, master closets and all of upstairs) and it has put us behind and pushed our move in date back even further.  So the plan of using a different guy to do the other cabinets so we would stay on our timeline?

Um... Yeah.   :)
