Week 24

More cabinets were put in last week!  This is the vanity in the boys bathroom.  On another note, Faucets on the wall.  There's not even a counter or sink yet and I'm pretty sure this is one of the smarter decisions I have made as far as ease of cleaning the bathroom.  Very excited about that. :)

This is my island in my craft room (for sewing, cutting fabric, making invitations or whatever). Love it.

And they have started work on the kitchen ceiling.

Fun things outside too... Paint!  Yay!

We decided on a white that was in the "heritage" colors collection.  We also wanted to paint the ceiling of the porch blue.  (I like the look and then Brian told me the history of haint blue and I thought it was kind of neat!  If you don't know the history, here's a quick article.  We actually picked one of the color suggestions from it. )

Week 23

Lots of developments this week!  We had 3 paint swatches put on the house so we could decide which color to go with.  They're drastically different, right? :)
(We ended up going with the one on the bottom.)

The doors arrived on Tuesday.
We had all the doors made except for 2- the pantry and my closet door. I saw this picture on Pinterest about a year and a half ago and want doors just like these for my closet...

I found some at a salvage store back in January and fell in love. They are cream on one side and an awesome vintage green on the other.  I knew right when I bought them that I would leave the paint.
And this is my pantry door.  I also bought this at the same salvage place - I saw it and thought it would be perfect for the pantry - I love the glass panes! And this style mimics the style of all the windows in the house.

Well, we had a mix-up with the doors.  Brian, from the get go when I bought them, thought they were going in the opposite places. So the house was framed for them to be switched. I thought my closet opening looked a little small, but Brian said "We measured the door and it's right". It probably didn't help that I always addressed them as "my closet door" or "my pantry door" with no specifications as to which was which. Well, on Wednesday when they were getting doors ready to hang, they had the double doors in the pantry. I said "Those are the closet doors."  Brian, Brad (the trim guy) and Billy (the guy from Henson's) all just looked at me like "What?"  SO, all that to say... I had a 15 minute pity party and to alleviate any extra cost or time delays the doors are staying where they are. I don't like that shade of green in my kitchen, so I'm planning on stripping the pantry doors and having them back in place so they can be stained along with the rest of the woodwork. Good thing the boys are starting school next week, huh? :) Here is what the pantry looks like now...

I do really love the door and I'm hoping it will be an accident that I'm glad it happened. I'm already starting to warm up to it.

Brad (trim guy) has started putting things together - here is a shot of my closet...

and Reed's closet.

On Friday, the hutch was in...

And the upstairs windows were trimmed out.

And doors were hung.

We have one dormer painted. After three coats and still not great coverage, our painter decided to get some primer, so hopefully lots more will be painted next week.

More to come!

Week 22

Not a whole lot this week, but progress is progress... right? :)
The dormer windows are in...

...and the siding is up all on the first floor.  The framers had been waiting on a special blade to cut the siding for around the arched windows.  We still lack the two arched windows on the upstairs balcony, but that's set for next week.

We've also had a couple of extra cabinets put in - this is the refrigerator cabinet.

And the top part of my beverage bar.

I'm getting a little anxious at this point, but we still have a couple of months to go.  Of course our 30 year old over bit the dust last night... good timing, huh? :)

Weeks 20 and 21

I'm a little behind, but we're still kicking'. :)  Week 20 started with  the walls being textured.

While that was going on, we met with the trim guy and went over closets, shelving, etc.  We left mid-way through the week for vacation and when we came back, it was midway through week 21. The biggest change from the outside was finished porch ceiling and the porch columns. LOVE!!

I'm really excited to see it come together when the siding/columns/trim gets painted and the rock gets put on the garage.
Then the other major change was that a lot of the cabinetry was set.  This is the front wall of the kitchen.
