Digging a BIG hole

We started digging our tank last week. There was a low spot on the property out behind the house and in front of where we a going to build our new house. So it was a good location to put it. And I have an excuse to build a trussed old looking iron bridge when we build the new house and move the driveway. It is going to be 3/4-1 acre big. I wanted one big enough for a dock and big enough that the boys will have enough room to sail in whatever homemade boats I'm sure they will make.

Boys have to play in dirt piles. Reed asks pretty mush every day when I get home if he can go out and play on the hills.

Everything is going good and getting deeper. We are shooting for at least 15 feet so we can have a good fishing hole.

Surprise there is water about 12-13 feet down. Which should be a good thing so it shouldn't ever go completly dry. It will make it a little more fun to dig the last few feet though.

I know we needed the rain but it would have been nice if it waited at least another week. Now we will have to pump the water out so that we can keep digging. The water is about three feet deep so far, but it is supposed to rain some more tonight. I hope it doesn't start raining a bunch because I was wanting to drill holes for my peirs for the dock before it fills up. It sure would be easy just to drive out in the middle on the tractor.

Stay tuned for more pictures. I'll post some of me on my dozer and dump truck. The guys digging it think it's pretty funny. My dozer weighs 6000-7000 pounds theirs is 30,000-35,000. My dump truck hauls 6 yards theirs 25.

Oh my goodness, what stories I'm sure that tank will be able to tell in a few years. Looks like fun!
