Overboard

I went by the nursery and they had plants on sale. Long story short I ended up buying all the vegetables they had. 350 corn plants, 150 pumpkin, 200 honey dew, 200 cantaloupe, 60 cucumber, 30 zucchini, 30 snap beans, 15 black eyed peas. I think that is all. So I had to get busy tilling some new ground.

This is where I tilled up to plant the corn plants. It's to the right of the original garden. We have sweet corn, popcorn, ornamental and regular Indian corn. It's a 20'X50'

15 minutes later. It's tilled.

Heather and Reed planting the corn. I dug all the holes, Reed took them out of the pots and cracked the roots and Heather planted them.

300+ corn later we have a Field of Dreams.

Reed and Hudson couldn't resist running in the freshly tilled dirt. This is a 25'X60' spot for the cantaloupe and honey dew.

This is the row and a half of cantaloupe. There is 2 plants every spot that you see. I will plant Green honey dew on the rest of the row and a half.

I needed more room so I tilled up a 85'X85' spot for the rest of the stuff. I ended up planted another row of Honey dew. 2 plants every 3' for the 85' row. 3 rows of Jack-O-Lantern pumpkin, 3 rows of Howe pumpkins and one row with 27 Georgia Rattlesnake watermelons, 16 decorative gourds, 6 Luffa (like you use in the shower) and then along the western edge I planted Sunflower seeds for eating.

Reed likes to hit the stakes in and cut the string with my pocket knife. He gets to carry it around in his pocket when we are laying out the rows.

It really looks like alot of plants with all the pots like this. This is the stuff from the nursery...after I already had 40' of the 50' garden filled up. They are on a 10' long trailer.

I LOVE the picture of Heather bending over planting. That is adorable. Next time make her look up so we can see her face under that cute hat. :)
